MY FAV SUBJECT THIS TERM: ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY

This semester I've enjoyed a theoretical subject called "Anthropology and history". We have class every Thursday for one hour and a half. In class the teacher talk us about the relationship between anthropology, history and literature, every class he explain a book and puts it in a larger context, linking it to other authors, perspectives, theoretical fields, etc. One of the things that I like most about the class is when the professor talks to us about his experience studying the history of the whalers in the south of our country, he gets very excited and that is why the students have named this branch for years as "whales." He is also a very adorable man, is very flexible about our times and does not exploit us academically.

In past classes, we have passed the relationship between anthropology and history through time, the ethnography of the past, microhistory, ethnographic narrative, among other topics. Something I specially enjoy about are the readings we have class to class. I also have to admit that one of the things I like about this class is that there is a very relaxed atmosphere.

Rita Segato

About the visit of Rita Segato to our university,

born on August 14, 1951, in Argentina.
After finishing her PhD studies, she became
a professor at the University of Brasilia.
there begins with his studies of gender

The vast majority of their works talk about
the patriarchal structure, making visible,

 race and social
class in Latin America, as a colonial and
oppression mark. Some of his most
 recognized works are "The elementary
structures of violence",
"The nation and its others",  "The
writing on the body of the
 murdered women in Ciudad Juárez",
"The new forms of war and the body of
women" and
"Build strategies to eradicate gender violence"

Regarding my interest in her, I am impressed not only by her ability to analyze
patriarchy, but also by her emphasis on the community, her perseverance and
the tenacity and authenticity of her struggle
